Alice Lucille Hall
January 20, 1925 – November 16, 2013

Alice Lucille Hall, of Bryan, TX, died on November 16, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born in Abilene, KS on January 20, 1925, and was the eldest of the five children of Grover and Inez Markley. She was educated in the Abilene, KS public schools.

On May 9, 1951, Alice married Charles F. Hall and to this union was born a daughter, Eleanor Hall. Alice spent her life in Fayetteville, Arkansas where Charles was employed at the University of Arkansas; in East Lansing, Michigan, where Charles was employed at Michigan State University; and in Bryan/College Station where Charles was a Professor of Veterinary Microbiology and Parasitology at Texas A&M University.
Alice was active in a number of youth support organizations, including the Girl Scouts of America; the Bryan Girls Club; and the Maroon and White Corps, – the adult support group of the Wesley Foundation. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Bryan First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Auxiliary of the American Veterinary Medical Association and served as a member of its House of Delegates. She was one of the original volunteers at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum and served as visitor’s docent for many years. On the lighter side, Alice was an avid bridge player and belonged to a number of bridge clubs in the B/CS community.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Twyla Jean and husband, Thomas Dreiling; a brother, Jack and wife, Lois Markley; and a sister, Jo Ann and husband, Elmer Mills.

Alice is survived by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Eleanor Towles and husband, Wesley, of Crosby, TX; a grandson, Justin “J.R.” Towles and wife, Brittany, of Tomball, TX; a granddaughter, Courtney Towles, of Crosby, TX; and 2 great grandsons, Jackson Towles and Kingston Christopher; a brother, James Markley and wife, Myrna of White City, KS; and numerous nephews and nieces. She is also survived by a stepson, Thomas Hall, and wife Sophie of Minnesota and three step grandchildren, Brian Hall, Randy Hall, and Rebecca Stein and husband, Jason, of Hays, KS; and 4 great grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Bryan.
