Connie Byrd

Connie Ann Byrd, age 60, of Bryan, TX was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Monday, August 28, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.  Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00pm at Central Baptist Church in College Station, TX with Rev. Chris Osborne officiating.

Connie was born April 16, 1957 in Ft. Worth, TX to Billy and Tommie Hackler.  She gave her life to her Lord Jesus on Valentine’s Day when she was 8 years old.  She was a 1975 graduate of Roxton High School.  Connie married her high school sweetheart, Warren Byrd, after graduation on July 19, 1975.

Their children, Shane and Shauna, soon joined the family and were the absolute joy of their lives.  Warren and Connie moved their family to Bryan in 1985.

As her children grew, Connie began to know God was calling her to become a teacher.  She persevered several years in her late 30s to obtain her teaching degree from Sam Houston State.  She faithfully served in her calling as a teacher for 20 years; 8 with CSISD.

Her most cherished roles were wife, mom, and being “Nanee” to her six grandkids.  She loved serving in numerous ministries at her church home, Central Baptist, where she was a member for over 30 years.  She also had many friends and extended family to whom she had a remarkable ability to show love and service.  She set the bar high as a daughter, wife, mom, Nanee, sister, and friend, but set it even higher as a follower of Jesus.

She will be remembered for her vivacious love of life, people, teaching, reading, cooking, and shopping!  Her beautiful smile, wisdom, sense of humor, and optimism will be missed by all.  She leaves an incredible legacy of living well, faithfully serving, and inspiring others each day and moment of her life.

She is survived by her parents, Rev. Billy Charles and Tommie Ann Hackler; husband of 42 years, Warren Byrd; son, Shane Byrd and wife Amanda; daughter, Shauna Maynard and husband Nathan; brothers, Billy Hackler Jr., Larry Hackler, Paul Hackler and Cliff Hackler; and grandchildren, Kylie, Kason, Kade and Kamdyn Byrd, Jackson and Sawyer Maynard, and numerous dearly loved family and friends.

Connie will be missed more than I can put into words.
I dated Connie back in 1973 and never forgot what an amazing person she is.
My heart is broken. Sometimes I don’t understand God but he knows best.
I guess he needed one more angel in heaven.
