A man who loved his family and was a trusted and caring friend to many, David Dean, 75, has passed from this life to the next on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in Bryan, Texas.

A Memorial Service honoring his life will begin at 11:30 am, Friday, September 8, 2017 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 South College Ave in Bryan. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers Bryan-College Station.

David was born in Kokomo, Indiana to his parents Glen and Mary (Poore) Dean on May 4, 1942 and raised in Brookston, Indiana. David was an active student and participated in track, basketball, band, and student government. After moving to Bryan, Texas in 1971 from Atlanta, David established strong roots in the community, first as a Manager at Alenco for fourteen years. David later owned a small business, Dave’s Beverage, and was General Manager of Captain’s Oyster Bar, where he was beloved by the staff and patrons.

David enjoyed golfing and was a fan of Aggie football, NASCAR and other sports. He enjoyed fishing and camping trips with sons and grandchildren, and dancing to and listening to country music. His family will miss his contagious smile, laugh and the warm affection given by David.

He was preceded in death by his parents Glen and Mary Dean.

David’s legacy continues on through his love of twenty five years, Linda Berry; his children Jeff Dean and wife Dawn, Michael Dean and wife Miranda; Linda’s children Jerry Reeves, Billy Reeves and wife Nhue, Wendy Merkel and husband Keith; his grandchildren Taylor and Kyle Dean, River Merkel, Bear Reeves and wife Sarah; the mother of his children Carol Dean; and extended family.
