Born in Camrose, Alberta Canada, he was predeceased by his father Walter Nelson and is survived by his mother Edna Nelson and siblings Gail Bodwell, Barbara Anderson, Joan Scheie, Kathryn Penn, and Brian W. Nelson.
Raised on a farm, he began his diverse career as a mechanical engineer after graduating from the University of Alberta. He traveled and lived throughout the world working for the oil industry and made many close friends from Asia, Australia, and Europe. He and Beverly moved permanently to their dream home overlooking the Brazos Valley in 2011 when he retired from Wells Fargo Bank. Returning to his farm roots, he enjoyed being outside and taking care of the land. He now takes care of his family from above where his spirit resides with the Lord.

      • Beverly, this is over 3 years late. I went to find Dennis’e current email to share the death of a mutural DS person Bill Hayes and found this. So many memories. Indeed my condolences.

Note I first met Dennis in Kuwait on a Dowell Schlumberger pump truck. Maybe we catch up some time. I’m currently in Perth Western Australia but also do Calgary and Houston when opportunity permits. I’m on pension Exxon Mobil and born 1943.

  9. Beverly, you and I have both lost beloved husbands, and both of us know that they live with God now. It is hard, but we both have wonderful memories to warm the lonely times when it seems so hard to be without them.
It’s wonderful that your children are so supportive and willing to be there for you. You are blessed!
And so are they— to have you as mother.

My prayer is that you will lean on your family and friends for strength, for we would do nearly anything for you. Our Lord will walk with you and comfort you when you feel alone.
A friend gave me this quote when I really needed it:

“What is, is, and we cannot change it.
What is not, is not, and we cannot change that, either.
But God is good— and will not change His love for you.”

    • Dearest Phyllis,

So appreciate your most loving and special message. All the messages you have sent and also the gift basket. Your such a dear to me and you know I love you very much~

Will treasure what you wrote and have kept it to read many times~ I know you know what losing a loving husband means. Also for our kids, a Dad they loved so much too~

      God Bless you always~

      Much love and hugs,
      Beverly

  10. I’m so deeply sorry for this and I make to you dear Beverly and to all your lovely family my sincere condolences.

  11. Edmonton, Alberta, January 3, 2016
I am very sorry to hear of Dennis’s passing. I grew up in the same area where Dennis came from and lived with him for a year during our engineering studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. While I have not seen him for at least 20 years I still considered him a good friend. My sincere condolences to his family.
