Emma Hattie Harmel, 85 of
Bryan, passed away Saturday,
September 19, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in
Bryan. Visitation will be from 6
to 8 p.m. Monday, September
21 at Callaway-Jones Funeral
Home. Funeral Services are set
for 1 p.m. Tuesday, September
22 at the funeral home with
Rev. Karl Tewold of Faith
United Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow at
Bryan City Cemetery.
Emma was born June 6, 1924 in
Washington County, Texas to
Oscar and Martha Wolff. She
was married to Herman Harmel.
Emma worked at Producers
Coop in Bryan in the meat department for many years. She
was a member of Faith United
Church Christ in Bryan and a
member of the Women’s Guild.
Emma was preceded in death by
her husband, Herman Harmel;
sisters, Martha Wolff, Hilde-
garde Schulz and Helen Sweet.
Survivors include her son,
Tommy Harmel of Bryan;
brother and sister-in-law, Oscar
and Dorothy Wolff; sisters and
brother-in-law: Bernice and
Johnny Gurka of Brenham, Ella
Meier of Bryan, Mary Arrington
of Giddings; 5 grandchildren; 9
great-grandchildren; 2
great-great-grandchildren; nu-
merous of nieces and nephews
and special friend, Jo Ann
Parker of Houston.
