March 2, 1940 – June 6, 2015

Francile (Big mama) McDuffie-Hill was born March 2, 1940 in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was the second child of Kermit Easter-McDuffie and William McDuffie.

She graduated high school and attended college before she married Felton Hill Sr on November 15, 1965. They shared fifty-five years of marriage raising their family in Santa Cruz, California. Francile loved singing Gospel Songs and enjoyed all genera of music and loved to dance, play cards. She especially, liked Texas Hold’em as her favorite card game.

She took great pride in her family, caring for all of us and always ready and willing to feed us all. She found joy in cooking and sharing her love for cooking. She was life long member of the Nation Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Santa Cruz, CA., Branch 1071,were she served ten years as a dedicated president, who strongly believed in fair and equal treatment for all people. Francile served fifty-three years at the Dominican Hospital Santa Cruz, Ca before she retired as supervisor of the cafeteria. She was a very dedicated employee who loved to serve and care for her employees and the patients; trusted and respected by every one who knew her.

Her life legacy continues through her husband Felton Sr; her sons Felton Junior Hill and his wife Cassandra, of Brandon, Ms., Earl Hill of El Dorado, Arkansas, Glenallen Hill and wife Lori, of Santa Cruz, CA.; her daughters Debra Rose Allen, Anna Young Soles and husband Derick Soles, all of College Station, Tx., Deborah Hill-Alston and husband Al Alston of Santa Cruz, Ca, Ollie Ruth Hill and Ira Jones, both of Oakland, Ca.; her brothers Larry McDuffie and Stevie McDuffie both of Houston, Texas, and Randy McDuffie of El Dorado, Ak,; her sisters Helen Clay and husband Jerry Clay of Conroe, Texas, Minnie Mims and husband Ken, Caroline Anderson of Houston, and Shirley McCoy and husband Jim McCoy of College Station, Texas; her twenty grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, and a host of cousins and friends

Francile Hill, 75, of College Station, entered her eternal rest on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the College Station Medical Center. Life Tribute Services will be at 2pm, Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Michael’s Academy Chapel, 2402 South College Ave, corner of Williamson and South College Ave. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

  2. My deepest condolences to Mrs. Hill’s family. I was lucky to be one of her home health nurses and I always looked forward to our visits. She was a very kind and patient lady and I know she will be missed.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Francile from working at Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. She always brought a smile to my face. I know she will be greatly missed.
