Frederick McKethan Jr.

Frederick McKethan, 82, of Bryan, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his home. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on October 18th at 11:00 am in Bryan, TX at the Brazos Cotton Exchange 200 S. Main. A brief memorial followed by Dad’s favorite..fajitas for lunch. We hope you can join us.

Fred was born to Gladys Hall McKethan and Frederick McKethan Sr. in Mercedes, Texas. He graduated high school in San Benito, TX, served in the US Air Force, and retired from Farm Bureau Insurance in 1990. He was a Master Mason, a Scottish Rite Mason, a York Rite Mason and a Shriner.

He and his wife were married for 64 years, having been childhood sweethearts and next door neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Herbert, Henry and Ray, and one sister, Eloise James.

Fred is survived by his wife Juanita Stubblefield McKethan; daughter Brenda Osbon and husband Jim of Driftwood, TX, his son Fred III and wife Laura of Kilgore, TX, his daughter Rhonda Faltysek and husband Duane of College Station. He was Papa to twelve grandchildren—Jarred, Justin and Jordan Faltysek; Derrick, Brandon and Travis McKethan; Brent, Megan, Paul and Clinton Osbon; John Abright and David Stanley— and eleven great-grandchildren—Daylan, Lillie Grace, Taylor Ann, Logan, Eastan, Ryan, Anna, Cooper, Matthew, Abby Claire and Evan.

Fred lived by his personal motto “Families are…Forever!”

  3. I am so sad to hear about Mr. McKethan. He was a great man. I really enjoyed taking care of him when he was a patient at the hospital. He was always so sweet to me and always made me laugh no matter how bad he felt. Mrs. McKethan you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. You and your daughter were always there by his side no matter what. You could see that he was very loved. If there is anything I can do for you and your family please let me know.
