Geneva Rae Cole

Geneva Rae Newcomb Cole, 61, died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at her home in Bedias, Texas after an extended illness. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Iola Church of Christ.

Geneva was born in Bryan, Texas on August 2, 1949 to James Elmer and Lucille Girldean Henderson Newcomb. She attended Bryan schools and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1978 with a Sociology degree. During her life, she worked as a Commercial Artist and Marketing Manager and was a published author. She was a life-long Christian. Her hobbies included genealogy, reading, and the outdoors.

In 1996, she married John Edward Cole, the love of her life. They were happily married until his death in 2000.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Glenda Cole; her mother-in-law, Eda Margaret Lee Cole; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Lee Cole.

She is survived by: brother, Benny A. (Connie) Newcomb of Mt. Vernon, Texas; father-in-law, Bobbie I. Cole of Bedias; brothers-in-law, Roy G. (Joann) Cole and Larry J. (Lynn) Cole, both of Bedias; two nephews and seven nieces and many loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family at Geneva’s request asks for donations to Hospice of Brazos Valley.
