Isabel Sofia Sitcheran Amrein

Isabel Sofia Sitcheran Amrein, 8, passed away at her home in College Station on May 26, 2011 after a brave 10-month battle with an incurable brainstem tumor.

A memorial service to celebrate Isabel’s life will be held at the All Faiths Chapel on the Texas A&M University Campus on Tuesday, May 31 2011 at 10 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Isabel was born on March 22, 2003, in Durham, N.C. She was a bright and vivacious girl who always took time in her short life to celebrate moments big and small. She thrived and excelled at school and adored her teachers. She loved to read, dance, listen to music, do arts & crafts, go on picnics, collect seashells and stones, catch grasshoppers and climb the tree in our backyard.

Isabel had an unusually sophisticated passion for food and cooking and was already a world-traveler. She especially loved family trips to Switzerland, Greece, Italy and a special trip to Costa Rica with close friends this past fall.

Isabel was happiest spending time with family, playing with friends and being a terrific big sister. She always somehow managed to smile throughout her difficult journey. Isabel was taken from us much too soon and our hearts ache with missing her. She touched the lives of so many people and we were truly blessed to know and love her.

Isabel is survived by her parents, Raquel Sitcheran and Hubert Amrein; her sister, Olivia Sitcheran Amrein; her grandparents, Dawn and Eric Sitcheran, and Agnes and Otto Amrein; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Donations may be made to The Benefit Fund for Isabel Sofia Sitcheran Amrein at First Victoria National Bank, (1004 Copperfield Parkway, College Station, TX 77845) will be used to support the following organizations in Isabel’s honor: Pebble Creek Elementary School, The Children’s Inn at the NIH, The Ronald McDonald House in Houston, MD Anderson’s Child Life Specialists and Children Art Project, and Brazos Valley Hospice.
