Jack Martin

Jack Martin, 84, of Bryan, Texas was welcomed into God’s house on August 12, 2009. Memorial services are set for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2009, at First United Methodist Church in Bryan, with the Rev. Matt Idom and Rev. Jeff Gage officiating.

Jack was born October 13, 1924 in Hymera, Indiana to Babe (Cross) and John Martin. He married Barbara Willoughby on October 30, 1951. He retired from Inland Steel in Gary, Indiana, in 1975. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He found pleasure in beating his daughter at Wheel Of Fortune and buying scratch-offs. Prior to his illness, he spent many hours at his favorite fishing hole or golf course. He was an amazing man with a spirited personality that will be greatly missed by his family and friends both in Texas and Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, his parents, his sister Evelyn Allaway, two daughters, Teresa Martin and Jackie Isles, and one grandson Eric Bridges.

He is survived by his daughter, Sondra Brinkmann and husband Karl of Bryan, Texas; son, Roger Bridges and wife Janice, of Linton, Indiana; and brother, J.W. Martin and wife Lynn, of Hamilton, Texas. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
