James Alfred Adams, 81, of Stoneham, Texas passed away December 29, 2015. Born October 1, 1934 in Houston, Texas, he was preceded in death by his parents James Doyle Adams and Mabel Ruth Adams, brothers Luke T. Adams and J. Patrick Adams.
In his youth, he worked odd jobs to pay for his private school tuitions at Christ the King and St. Thomas High School. As well as, working his way through Texas A&M College to graduate with the class of 1962.

He was an avid outdoorsman known as “Ol Grizzly”. He loved to hunt, fish, and was a breeder of exotic birds. He was self-employed most of his life, building electrical control panels, mostly in the Dallas area. He was a good story teller, had a wry sense of humor, did things his way, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife Arlene, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Fred Jones of Waller, TX and their children, Garrett and Haley; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Joan Adams of Stafford, TX and their children Mitchell and Sarah; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Sonny Brumley of Waller, TX and their children Christine and Tyler; son and daughter-in-law, Bryce and Jennifer Adams of Fontana, CA and their daughter Harper. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Mike Beal of Bryan, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

Ol Grizzly has gifted his body to Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine for the aid of medical education and research.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2016, 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church-of the Stoneham Community, where he was a member, located at 11323 County Rd 304, Navasota, TX.

In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests donations be made to the Children’s Tumor Foundation, in memory of James Adams for Austin Freye.
