John Efimenko, 91, of College Station, Texas, passed away Monday, December 12, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan, TX. A private family service and burial will be held at a later date in Cortland, NY. Arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan.
Born in Tully, NY, John settled in College Station Texas in 1977, where he was a mass spectrometrist and began working at Texas A&M on a CEC instrument running hydrocarbon ratios for the American Petroleum Institute. In the 1980’s he ran a Hewlett Packard GC-Mass Spec as a research support facility for University research groups until retirement in 1985.
John enjoyed many hobbies such as making homemade beer, wine, soap and bread. Those that knew him enjoyed his enthusiasm for learning and his kind and gentle nature.
Survivors include his two nieces Anne Skinner, Meridian, ID, and Michelle E. DeBellis, Cicero, NY; two nephews, Andrew J. Efimenco, Stafford, VA, and Marc N. Efimenko, Cortland, NY; and many friends.
