Jon Bert Williams

On October 31, 2013, Jon Bert Williams passed away at the Brazos Valley Hospice Inpatient Facility at the age of 82. He was born on July 25, 1931 in Bristow, Oklahoma to Bert and Eunice Williams. He graduated from Mc Alester High School in Mc Alester Oklahoma in 1949 where he was a Golden Gloves Boxer and lettered in football. He attended Murray State School of Agriculture on a boxing scholarship. He then attended the Naval Flight School in Pensacola, Florida. He graduated from Ranger Business Jr. College in Albany, Texas with an associates degree in business before moving to Texas City where he worked for Union Carbide. He retired at the age of 54 after 30 years of service and moved to College Station in 1989.

In 1952 he married his high school sweet heart, Jackie Rae Campbell. They had 61 wonderful years of marriage together. Their relationship set the standard for what a loving marriage should be.

He had an intellectual inquiring mind, an outgoing personality and a unique sense of humor that he kept until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Ralph Smothers and his brother Bob Williams.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Steve and Charlene Williams. He is also survived by two granddaughters Rachel Erin Murphree (Tom) and Emily Hope Krueger (Justin) along with three great grandchildren Lauren, Katherine and Coupland.

We want to express our thanks to all the staff at Hospice Brazos Valley for their loving care and compassion. Jon Bert’s request for no service will be respected by his family. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803
