Martha Elizabeth (Emmons) Hassell
January 10, 1936 – January 5, 2018

Martha Hassell, 81, of Montgomery, Texas went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2018. All who knew her, as she truly possessed a kind, gentle and caring spirit, will miss her. A celebration service for Martha will take place at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm the following day, on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Roselawn Park Perpetual Care Cemetery in Palestine, Texas.

Martha was born on January 10, 1936 to Link and Aileen Powell Emmons in Palestine, Texas. She was active in her church, singing, and playing the piano and organ. After graduating from Palestine High School in 1954, Martha fell in love with and married Jarvis Ward Hassell, also of Palestine, Texas. Over 62 years of marriage, we have all witnessed their true love and commitment.

Martha is survived by her husband, Jarvis, her son James and his wife, Angie Hassell, her daughter Karen and her husband, Scott Shadrach. Seven grandchildren are blessed to have Martha as their grandmother. Andrew, Stephen, Matthew and Peter Shadrach. And Christopher, Ryan and Cassidy Hassell.

We are so blessed to be a part of the legacy that Martha, and her sweet and giving spirit, has left for us to carry on.
