December 30, 1936 – January 2, 2016

Mildred Pettit, 79, of Bryan, passed away in the company of her loving family in her home on Saturday, January 2, 2016. Her family will receive friends during a visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2015 at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4220 Boonville Rd. in Bryan. Funeral services celebrating her life will be at 11a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at St. Michael’s Academy Chapel, 2402 South College Avenue, corner of Williamson and South College Avenue. Pastor Scott Adams will officiate. Interment will follow at Rest Ever Memorial Park. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mildred was born in Belcherville, Texas on December 30, 1936. She is the daughter to Bailey and Lera Norvell Kirby. Mildred was a cook, seamstress, and day care owner. Throughout her life, she touched the both the lives and stomachs of many! She is famous for her superb baking skills. Mildred loved helping children and spending time with her family. After retirement she treasured her Sonic Cokes and relaxation.

Preceding her in death are her parents and two brothers Harold and C. H.

Mildred is survived by her husband of 43 years, LeRoy Pettit; her family and their families Carol and Bobby Bounds, Mary and Duke Chenault, Anna Neff, John and Jenny Pettit, Doug Pettit and James Pettit; her eighteen grandchildren; her wonderful thirty-one great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces and host of close friends.

Memorial donations may be given to Traditions Hospice, 1862 Rock Prairie Rd. #202 CS, TX 77845, or to Hillcrest Baptist Church, 4220 Boonville Road, Bryan, Tx 77802.

  1. My sincere condolences to the Pettit Family on the loss of their wife and mother Mildred Pettit. I have known her for over 30 years and even though we didn’t always see eye to eye, she always had a place in my heart. The whole family has crossed into my life at one time or another and each one has left an imprint on my heart and in my life. My thoughts and prayers go out to each and every one of you.

    her and her husband for their willingness to take Mildred’s mother into their home during her last
