Peggy Bailey

Peggy Ruth Blacksher Bailey went to be with The Lord on November 2, 2016 with her family by her side, in Bryan, Texas. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Peggy’s life during a visitation with light refreshments from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016, in the Pecan Room at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Center in Bryan, Texas.

Peggy was born in Shelby County, Texas to Edwin Lonzo and Myrtle Rogers Blacksher on August 22, 1940. Peggy was their only daughter having three brothers, Edwin Jr., Kenneth, and Willie Paul. She later married Hubert Harrell Bailey on August 22, 1955.

Peggy Bailey excelled at all she put her mind to, and was an extremely accomplished seamstress, cook and gardener. She spent much of her life tending to her own personal gardens and volunteered for many years at the Texas A&M Horticultural Gardens in College Station, Texas. Her later years were filled with the love and care of her children and grandchildren, and many family members and friends. She touched the lives of many in and around the Bryan/ College Station Metroplex, and loved her” Aggie students” dearly. She will be greatly missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin Blacksher and Myrtle Ruth Blacksher, her eldest brother Edwin Lonzo Blacksher Jr., and her son Derek Russell Bailey.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Hubert Harrell Bailey; her son Hubert Harrell Bailey Jr. and his wife, Raenell Hogan Bailey of Georgetown Texas; her daughter in law, Lori Bailey of Evadale, Texas; and her grandchildren, Tara Tomlinson and husband Mick Tomlinson of Boulder Colorado, Clayton Bailey of Houston, Texas, and Derek Russell Bailey Jr. of Sulphur Springs, Arkansas. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Blacksher and his wife Sandra of Frisco, Texas; her sister in law, Joyce Blacksher of Houston, Texas; and her youngest brother Willie Paul Blacksher of Houston, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews.
