Susan Gomez, 87, of Navasota, passed away on Friday, September 27, at the Navasota Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be at 1PM on Thursday, October 3 at Oakland Cemetery in Navasota. Service arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
Susan Gomez was born in Karnes, Texas to Daniel and Ramona Hernandez Garza. She was an active member of the Catholic Church until her health no longer allowed her to serve as a volunteer where she became a member of the Guadalupana Women’s group. Susan retired after 15 years from the Vlassic Pickle factory in Saginaw, MI. She enjoyed housekeeping, painting ceramics, gardening and cooking for her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Cipriano Gomez.
Susan’s survivors include her sons Daniel and wife Shannon (Hill) Verastequi, Richard and Cindy Villanueva, David and Ida Villanueva; her daughters Yolanda and husband Sylvester Garcia, Margaret Mejia, Virginia Lomeli, Susan Rodriguez, Linda Villanueva, her 29 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; 4 sisters and 1 brother.
