William Carl Ponton


William “Carl” Ponton, 91, passed peacefully from this life June 16, 2017. He was born near Ezzell, TX September 13, 1925. Carl served his country as a Marine during WW II.  He was shipped from San Diego  to New Caledonia on a Liberty ship and spent 24 months on Guam. After the war, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Mae Jacobs. They had three children and celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary two weeks before he passed.  Carl worked hard and loved his family.  He was best known for sacrificially giving his time and effort to help those he loved.

Carl is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son and daughter-in-law Johnny and Barbara Ponton, son Jimmy Ponton; daughter and son-in-law Carla and Greg Wall; four grandchildren Lyle and Chad Ponton, Holly Ponton Thacker and David Wall; and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Mae Ponton; siblings Marvin, Raymond, Joel, and Laverne.

Funeral services will be at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center on Sunday, June 18 at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at 5:00 PM at Salem Cemetery in Ezzell, TX.
