Alice M Schaefer

Alice Marie Dippel Schaefer, 81, of Bryan, went to meet her Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in College Station. Interment will follow at the Bryan City Cemetery.
Alice was born December 17, 1930 in Brenham, Texas, to Walter and Elsa (Schmidt) Dippel, the third of nine siblings. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Prairie Hill, Texas, on February 1, 1931. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brenham, Texas, on April 14, 1946. On February 20, 1955, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Brenham, Texas, she married Melvin Schaefer. They were married for 57 devoted years.
She enjoyed being with her family and friends, going to dances with her husband and bragging on her daughter’s crocheting. She was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and Sons of Hermann, Bryan Lodge #99.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elsa Schmidt Dippel; brothers, infant brother, Eugene Dippel and Donald Dippel; father-in-law and mother-in-law Theodore and Alma Schaefer; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Walter and Lillie Schaefer, Hermann and Selma Franke, and Wilfred Rust.
She was survived by her husband, Melvin Schaefer, of Bryan; daughter, Joyce Schaefer of Bryan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice and Charlie Rodenbeck, Delores and LeeRoy Winkelmann, of Brenham, Janice and Sidney Kapner, of Pasadena; brother, Alvin Dippel, of Brenham; sister, Elaine Dippel of Houston, sister-in-laws, Dorothea Dippel, of Lake Jackson, and Christine Rust, of Bryan; and numerous nieces and nephews and great friends.
