Alice Pauline Saunders passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on May 25, 2018, with family members by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a true Texas lady.

Alice was born on October 24, 1932, in Miranda City, Texas, and moved with her family throughout South Texas growing up before graduating from high school in Kirbyville, Texas. After attending classes at Sam Houston University, Alice married the love of her life, Paul Jerry Saunders, on September 17,1954. Alice moved with Paul and their family to various cities in East and North Texas and New Jersey, before settling into their retirement home in College Station, Texas.

Alice was a woman of strong Christian faith who was a shining example of a faithful servant throughout her life. She was active in the Baptist church, singing, playing the piano, teaching and volunteering in many capacities in many congregations. In 2013, she was honored by Dallas Baptist University with the Ruth Award, as a woman exhibiting the virtues of Ruth.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Julia Pool, brothers Alex and Eddie Pool and her son, Syd Saunders. She is survived by her husband of more than 63 years, Paul Jerry Saunders, sons Ross E. Saunders and wife Karen of Spring, Texas and Paul Jerry Saunders, Jr. and wife Kelley of Kingwood, Texas, grandchildren Justin Saunders and wife Abby of Nashville, Tennessee, Julie Saunders of Angers, France and Jade Saunders of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and great grandchildren Layla, Henry Nora and Archer.
