Alta Marie “Rita” Gibson
October 14, 1921 – April 2, 2016

Alta Gibson, 94, of Lyons, Texas, entered into her eternal rest on Saturday, April 2, 2016 in Bryan. Her beloved family will receive guests during visiting hours from 10:00 to 11:30, followed by prayer on April 12, 2016 at Lyons Baptist Church in Burleson County. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Alta was born to General Thomas Rogers and Dora St. Clair Rodgers in Stephenville, Texas. She was a dedicated worker and enjoyed waitressing for many years. There weren’t too many menu items she couldn’t remember and served with a smile. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 54 years Jessie Gibson; her sons, Johnny Wayne Gibson, Sr., Shawn Gibson and James Horace Gibson; and daughter Jessie Marie Schultz; granddaughter Mysti Raynell Schultz and 7 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Verda Mae Gibson-Beasley; grandchildren Johnny Wayne Gibson, Jr, Michael Brandon Gibson, Michelle Rene and husband Troy Taylor, Roni Beasley-Noey, Sheldon and wife Cheeri Beasley, Brenda and husband John Marino, and Carrie and husband Paul Berry.

Memorial donations can be given in her memory to a charity of your choice.
