Anthony John Luza Sr
December 20, 1947 – April 5, 2015

Anthony Luza, 67, of Bryan, passed away in his home on Easter Sunday morning, April 5 after a long battle with cancer. A visitation and rosary will be held Tuesday April 7 from 6pm to 8pm at St. Michael’s Academy Chapel, 2402 South College Ave in Bryan, with a rosary recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be April 8 at St. Josephs Church at 1pm. Life Tribute services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Anthony was the only son born to Vince John Luza and Mary Ann Shadrock Luza on December 20, 1947 in Bryan, Texas. Anthony was a man who worked hard to provide for his family. In his earlier years he worked as a mechanic and in the dairy business. He continued farming and ranching in Brazos County all his life. He unselfishly gave to his family so they would know unconditional love. Anthony’s life was the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, working with his cattle and seeking ways to improve cattle ranching. He was a member of the American Milk Producers. His adventurous side of life was touring the islands of Hawaii and going on cruises. His most favorite vacation spot was Hawaii. Anthony was a life member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council 11759.

He is preceded in death by his father Vince John Luza; and his stepfather Hugo Stein;

His survivors include his wife, of 32 years, Leila Ann Luza; his mother Mary Ann Stein, his sons Anthony Jr., and his wife Sherry Luza, Dwayne and his wife Jennifer Holloway, Brandon and his wife Kimberly Luza, all of Bryan; his daughters Michelle and her husband Ched Cox, of Buffalo, Debbie and her husband Michael Riley, of Longview, April and her husband Evan Plyler, of Tyler; his fifteen grandchildren and four great grand-children; his sisters Doris and her husband Barney Patranella, Linda and her husband Tony Schoeneman, and Debbie and her husband Jerry Stubbs; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers your gift in kind is asked to be given as a memorial donation to Compassionate Care Hospice, 3833 S Texas Ave #100, Bryan, TX 77802

I am so sorry for your loss. Anthony and I went to school together at St. Joseph’s and SFA and this year would have been our 50th class reunion. Sonny was one of the good guys and will be missed. I pray the Holy Spirit offers you comfort during these trying moments. And may his life be a shining example in the future of his children. May God bless.

Time here on earth if it is 1 hour 67 years or 100 years is to short. Family and friends may pass through your life for only a short time and leave a lasting impression. AJ is what we called him when his three kids hung out with our two babies. This is to Shorty, Michelle, and Debbie.(All the others also) You will miss him everyday but as time goes by the ache will be more tolerated. The love will never fade.
