Betty Jean Parie

Betty Jean Parie
March 12, 1930 – February 28, 2018

“Count Your Blessings.  Every one.”   This is something Betty Jean Parie said often and lived out in her colorful life.  She was a single mom who raised 6 kids in a time that was side eyed.  Her strength, integrity and love for her family and others around her were undeterred by the challenges she endured.  Her attitude was “use it or lose it” when it came to surgery recovery specifically, but that extended to her continual perseverance through struggle.  Through her great faith in Jesus Christ, she became the grand matriarch and rock for her family, which was not constrained by blood.   Her fun loving, feisty, stubborn, tell it like it is personality won the hearts of all in her path.  She loved reading cookbooks like they were novels, finding recipes and then making them with her own twist. She was in her element cooking for a crowd. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Parie; her parents, William Aaron and Jewel B Hellums; her sister, Pauline Carter; her two brothers, Bill and Arthur Lee Hellums; one son, David Aaron Russ; one daughter, Patricia Jean Rosser; and three grandsons, James “Jimbo” Rosser, AJ Price, and Javier Izquierdo II, and 1 great granddaughter, Savannah Ensey. She is survived by five children, Joyce Price, Jim and Rose Rosser, Barbara and Rick Ensey, Richard and Lisa Rosser, and Deborah and Javier Izquierdo; 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

We will gather to celebrate a life well lived at Callaway Jones Funeral Home-3001 College Avenue, in Bryan Texas on Tuesday, March 6th.  Visitation at 9 a.m., service at 10 A.M.. Burial to follow at Bryan City Cemetery graveside.
