Betty Maxine Workman

Betty M. Workman, 74, of Bryan, Texas passed away on October 18, 2012. A Celebration Of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Reliance Baptist Church on FM 1179, with Reverend Ray Marshall officiating.

Betty was born in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and later her family moved to the Greer Community on Greer Road. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 1956 and in 1957 she married Bill Workman. Together they had four children; Diana in 1959, and on their third anniversary they had the triplets; Joe, Jeff and Jeanette. During their marriage they lived in various locales, courtesy of the United States Army. In 1975 the family moved to Fort Hood, Texas and eventually settled in Bryan, Texas in 1979.

Betty was involved in the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She was a woman of great compassion with a zest for life that will always be remembered by all. She was always taking in the needy and lending a helping hand. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother and precious grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Leo C. Plants and Clara Mae (Gill) Plants.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, William (Bill) Workman; sons and daughter-in-law, Joe and Lisa Workman, of Bryan, and Jeff Workman, of Bryan; daughters and son-in-law, Diana and Dennis Osborne, of League City, TX, and Jeanette Saddler, of Maryville, TN; grandchildren, Jessica (Osborne) Jacobs and Caitlin Osborne, both of League City, TX, Allysa (Workman) Sprouse, of Fort Stewart, GA, and Gabriel Saddler and Alexis Saddler, both of Maryville, TN, and Brandon Workman, of Bryan; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kimberly Sprouse; sisters, Eileen Stephens, Doris Jarrell, Vonda Jordan, Mary Hudson, Debra Cox; and brother, Jack Plants, of Point Pleasant, WV.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th St. Bryan, TX 77803.

Bill and family..am so sorry to hear of Betty’s death. Had known the Plants’ family since way back in grade school at Roosevelt School. Spent a couple of nights with Eileen and Betty when we were about in 5th or 6th grade. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Bonnie Ketchum and Family
