Bill B. Lightfoot
November 12, 1931 – December 19, 2018

Bill Lightfoot, 87, of Bryan, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in his home surrounded by his family. A visitation will be at 5pm, Friday, December 21, 2018, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center. A funeral will begin at 10:30am, Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Central Church of Christ with Rev. Bob Wolfert officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Rest Ever Memorial Park. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers.

Bill B. Lightfoot was born on November 12, 1931 to Willis and Mamie (Harrison) Lightfoot in Cisco, Texas. He graduated from Acorn High School in Mena, Arkansas. It is here he met the love of his life, Barbara Harper. These two meeting in the hills of Arkansas, a true match made In Heaven. They were married in Lometa, TX in 1952 where they moved to own and operate Lightfoot Oil Company. Shortly after the marriage, Bill went on to join the Army to serve in the Korean War until 1954. Bill returned to his bride in Texas while staying enlisted in the Army National Guard. This is the year he and Barbara moved to Bryan, TX so that Bill could attend Texas A&M and work alongside his father at their Premier Service Station and start their growing family. Bill was born to be an entrepreneur, from selling milk from his wagon as a boy, flipping real estate, swinging car deals, to building miles of fence. He opened and operated Hurricane Fence Company in 1956 while continuing his education at Texas A&M.

He finished at Texas A&M in 1960, but didn’t walk the stage. He always joked that he was too busy working at the station, fence company, and he had just started his new job at the post office. He spent his nights working at the post office and his days running his businesses, and anytime in between, looking for antique cars to restore back to original condition.

Many a family vacation was spent hauling an empty flatbed trailer-knowing full well he would bring back a great barn find.

Bill will be remembered as a simple, hardworking man who loved the Lord and his family. He always had a life lesson to teach and an example to show. He encouraged his grandchildren to be honest, hardworking and to never give up on their dreams. He led by example, as he fulfilled his dream of walking across the stage at Texas A&M University in 1999, as a 68 year old; showing us all the importance to finish what you start.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Willis and Mamie, his sister Athena Sinko and his loving wife of 62 years Barbara Harper Lightfoot.

He is survived by his sons Bill Jr. and wife Renae, Jay Lightfoot and wife Jennifer; daughters, Jana Fonville and husband Dean, Cindy Lightfoot, Lori Kessler and husband Doug, Jenny Pettit and husband John; his sister in laws, Virginia Moore (John), Pat Gochnour (Don), Mary Jackson (Brad), and Glenda Harper; his thirty grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. He will be missed by His beloved 4-legged companions Nancy and Dilly Dally.

In lieu of flowers please make a monetary donation in Bill’s name to the Belize Medical Mission at Central Church of Christ at 1600 E. 29th St. Bryan, TX 77802.
