King, Bonnie

Bonnie F. (Lee) Lunn King, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 22, 2017, in College Station, Texas. She was born in Robstown, Texas, on December 8, 1930, to parents Hardy and Josie (Jones) Lee. The youngest of four children, Bonnie was raised in Robstown, where at the age of 11 she lost her beloved father. After graduating from Robstown High School in 1948, she attended Baylor University, met and later married Richard E. Lunn, the father of her three daughters. The two moved to west Texas in 1957, and raised their family in Odessa where Bonnie began her long tenure in the Ector County Independent School District. She retired as the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools after 33 years of employment.  Richard, her husband of 41 years, passed away in 1991.

Eight years later, she was reunited with a High School classmate, Bob King, and they were married in 2000.  Bonnie returned to her hometown of Robstown, where they lived until his passing in 2011.  She grew to love Bob’s children, Scott King and LaRae Martin, Randy Helms, and his sweet grandchildren. Their presence in her life brought her great joy.

Bonnie will be remembered for her strong-willed, tenacious, and loving spirit.  Gifted with the grace and style of a true southern belle, Bonnie lit up any room she walked into.  She loved and adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing family time more with each passing year.

As the sole survivor of her immediate family for a number of years, she looked back fondly on her memories of parents, Hardy and Josie, and siblings, Bill Lee, Lillian (Lee) Dowling, and James Lee.  Her brother and best friend, James died much too soon at the tender age of 33; a great sorrow she carried all of her life.

Bonnie is survived by three daughters, Jenni Brown, Linda Boyer, and Cheryl Milkovich; grandchildren, Marci Kuver, Sharon Sorrell, Chris Boyer, Emily Black, Kim Henning, and Bonnie Baxter; and eight great-grandchildren, Knox, Sutton, Bennett, James David (JD), Katalina, Caleb, Emerson and Parker.

Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers Bryan-College Station.

Services and internment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Calallen Baptist Church, 13505 Interstate 37 Access Rd, Corpus Christi, TX, 78410.
