Carlene McBride

Carlene Kathryn McBride, 79, of Bryan, passed away Wednesday March 1, 2017. Family and friends are invited to come celebrate her life during a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church in College Station. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers of Bryan College Station.

Carlene was born November 3, 1937, in Houston, Texas, to Carl Walther and Evelyn Creppon. Before retirement she worked most recently as a bookkeeper and secretary. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in College Station, and has lived in this area for 14 years after moving from Kempner, Texas.

Carlene was talented.  She was a gifted painter, accomplished at sewing, enjoyed crafting and working on DIY home projects.  She enjoyed bowling, gardening and watching the wildlife that came up to feed.  Carlene always had a good time going to the beach and looked forward to outings with her sisters.  She loved spending time with family and friends especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We were blessed that she shared her gifts and values with all.  Carlene was a faithful Christian who was active in her church. She gave her time and talents in both church and community.

Survivors include her loving husband, Allie McBride; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Zee McBride, Carl and Yvonne McBride; daughter, Terry McBride; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Betty Walther, Michael and Barbara Walther, Charles and Doris Walther; sisters, Patricia Folks, Dianna Parker and Frank Flack; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the food bank through Peace Lutheran Church, 2201 Rio Grande Blvd, College Station TX 77845.
