Carol Black Hamilton

March 25, 1933 – December 26, 201

Carol Black Hamilton, 86, passed away peacefully Dec. 26, 2019 at her home in Bryan, Texas surrounded by her family. Her family will miss her but are comforted knowing that she is now where she longed to be — with her Lord Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven. She will be honored at a memorial reception March 21, 2020 in the home of Roger and Barbara McCormick in Kerrville, Texas.
Carol was born in Ennis, Texas to Emory Speir and Virginia Matthews. She graduated from Forest Avenue High School in Dallas and attended North Texas State College, now the University of North Texas.
She married Robert Edwin Hamilton III on January 28, 1967 in Dallas. Robert preceded her in death by 7 weeks. Robert will also be remembered in the March 21 memorial reception in Kerrville.
Carol was known for her caring and enduring friendships with many, keeping in touch with them even years after moving away. She lovingly selected and sent cards to each friend and family member on their birthday, anniversary or other holidays.
The highlight of Carol’s life was her and Robert’s 26 years in Kerrville where they moved from Dallas to retire. Using her gift of hospitality, Carol was a welcoming neighbor and gracious host for numerous visitors. Her passion was centered on her involvement in Stonecroft Bible Studies. She lead numerous women’s bible studies, teaching about the Bible and Jesus Christ.
Carol was not ashamed of telling others about Christ. Her family believes this verse from the Bible aptly described her life as a servant of Christ on Earth: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; 8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and sisters, Judith Lee Speir and Susan Black Wendorf.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Jeff and Kathy Wythe of College Station and their children, Cameron, Adrienne and Trenton; and Gil and Dyann Wythe of Odessa and their sons, Justin and his wife, Ashley, and Eric; two step-sons and their wives, Scott and Kathy Hamilton of Dripping Springs, and Alan and Trecia Hamilton of Rowlett. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Mila Wythe.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers, Bryan-College Station.

Condolences

  1. Sending condolences from the family of Barbara Feil. Mom also passed away recently, and I stumbled upon your mother’s obituary trying to verify her address to let her know. I only met your mother briefly, but it seems like Mom and her were two peas in a pod – both of them even having a March 25th birthday! Mom kept many cards from her throughout the years. Sending you prayers during this difficult time.
