Cindy Tate

Cynthia “Cindy” Hart Tate, 73, formerly of Bryan-College Station, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in Seabrook, Texas. Cindy will be honored with a Celebration of Life at 5pm Sunday, January 26, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan, with Minister Matthew Siebenlist officiating. Lauren Tate Cothran will be providing vocal blessings.  There will be a time of gathering for one hour prior to the service beginning at 4pm.

Cindy was born December 17, 1946 in Seymour, TX to Edwin and Marguerite McNeill.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother and a brother Craig McNeill. Surviving family includes her daughter, Kristin Reagan and husband Nathan; their two children Caroline and Wilson and her sister Melody McNeill Dean.  Cindy was married to Marvin Tate.  They shared four children: Marvin Tate Jr., Gary Tate, Jana Tate Gillespie & Tracy Tate and many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She graduated from Seymour High and Stephen F. Austin University.  She was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.  In her adult life, Cindy worked at Texas A&M University Athletics and Blinn College.  She was an active member to The Brazos Valley Equine Horse Committee and Brazos County Master Gardeners Association.  She was a Docent at George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum.

Cindy was a lover of people and a fantastic listener.  She truly invested in a conversation to learn about the many people she met on her journey.  She also had a passion for animals.  Her love of horses had her riding at a very young age.  She loved nothing better than a cattle drive or a rodeo parade.  Through the years she had many 4-legged friends. Most recently, her best 4-legged friend was Chloe, a dog she rescued and trained to be a service pet; you never saw one without the other. Chloe truly gave Cindy strength and comfort.  Other favorite pastimes were: sewing, jewelry making, stained glass, playing the piano, weaving and the art of gardening. Cindy (CiCi) was a very proud grandmother and on any given weekend; she could be spotted at a cheer competition or numerous little league fields throughout the Houston area.  Cindy shared her passion for life with her family and all that knew and loved her.

Family & Friends, please join us in celebrating Cindy’s life on Sunday, January 26th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Callaway Jones Funeral Center.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in honor of Cindy Tate to Courtney Cares @ courtneycares.org, an Equine Therapeutic Program supporting veterans & children

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
