Dodd Lowery

Dodd James Lowery, 52, of College Station, passed away April 15, 2017. His life will be honored and celebrated with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in College Station, Texas. Cremation and memorial services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers of Bryan College Station.

Dodd was born in Pasadena, Texas in January 7, 1965.  He was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School Class of 83 and attended The California Culinary Academy and studied at San Jacinto Jr College to pursue his love for cooking and the culinary arts.

Dodd grew up in Pasadena, TX and developed a fondness for sports at a very early age.  He was often at the ball park, in the gym, on the field, or court as he enjoyed everything from baseball to tennis.  He was also a fan of fishing and would venture out to the lake at any offer.  His love for food also came at an early age and he was often teased about fried chicken being his first food as a baby.  He would spend much of his life pursuing his love for cooking and grilling- sharing his knowledge and recipes with the rest of his friends and family.  Dodd had a quick wit, dry humor and a list of nicknames (or terms of endearment as some would say) ranging from The Pillsbury Doughboy to Uncle Sunshine.  Dodd was a good neighbor and one of the most honest and dependable persons you could ever hope to meet- he was always willing to lend a hand.  Dodd was a good friend and has one of the best circle of friends you can find.  If you knew Dodd, then you know he loved rock n roll music (still has the cassette collection to prove it), funny movies (could quote every line from the Blues Brothers), and beer.  Cheers to you, Dodd you will be greatly missed.

Dodd was preceded in death by his father, Doyal Lowery; uncle, Royal Lowery; grandparents Pearl and Leonard Lowery all of Trinity, TX;  grandparents, Margaret and Harry Fritsch of Pasadena, TX; and cousin Nathan Fritsch of San Leon, TX.Survivors include his mother, Shirley Lowery Tingley, of College Station; wife of 15 years, Sarah Ann Lowery of Houston; brother, Darrel Lowery and wife Brenda of Ashburn, VA; sister, Diane Lowery Tovey and husband Robbie of Carmine, TX; aunt, Polly Simmons and husband Jim of Trinity, TX; uncle, L.D. Lowery and wife Irene of Groveton, TX; aunt, Bernita Prater Lowery of Conroe, TX; uncle, Jim Fritsch and wife Sylvia of San Leon, TX; nieces and nephews, Jesse Scroggins and wife Amanda Jackson of Ft. Worth, TX, Sarah Tovey and Emi Canales of Kingsville, TX, Shannon Tovey Munoz and husband Dusty of Deer Park, TX, Caden Tovey of Carmine, TX, Thomas Lowery and Rachel Lowery of Ashburn, VA. He is also survived by a wonderful multitude of relatives, cousins, step-family, neighbors and others he considered his family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Covenant Presbyterian Church at 220 Rock Prairie Rd in College Station, Brazos Valley Center for Independent Living at 1869 Briarcrest Dr. in Bryan, or to the Royal and Doyal Memorial Scholarship Fund at c/o Melvin Shelly, PO Box 1168, Trinity, TX 75862.
