Douglas Baasen

Douglas “Ounce” Baasen, 65, of Caldwell, passed away Wednesday morning, May 18, 2011, in Bryan. A memorial service celebrating his life is set for 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at Cooks Point United Methodist Church in Caldwell, with the Rev. Matt Weaver officiating.

Douglas was born June 6, 1945, in Giddings, Texas, to Rudolph and Louallie Baasen. He was a member at Cooks Point Methodist Church, and he was one of the founding members of the Deanville Gun Club.

Douglas was preceded in death by his brother Alton Baasen.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Baasen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delbert and Barbara Baasen, Kenneth and Ruth Baasen, Larry Baasen; sister, Frances Fillip, all of Caldwell; brother-in-law, Richard Rudolph and wife Alvalaine, of Pueblo, Colorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cooks Point United Methodist Church at 4902 State HWY 21 E, Caldwell, TX.
