Duane Stanton Johnson
September 30, 1939 – October 18,2010

Services for Duane Johnson, 71, of Bryan, TX is set for 12:00 Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Chapel. Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday October 22, 2010 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home. Pastor Duane DeWald of Faith Bible Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Bryan City Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson passed away Monday evening in his home.

He was born in Memphis, TN. He moved to Virginia in 1942 and met and married his beloved wife Lola in 1959. The family moved to Bryan, TX in 1962. He opened a hobby shop at the corner of Coulter and Texas where he sold model race cars, maintained a track for them to race on, and model airplanes that could be flown. When demand lessened, he went to work for International Shelters making modular housing. He then worked for Trailite making gooseneck trailers, and after that worked as an electrician for Texas A&M University in the Food Services division of the Physical Plant. He retired after 20 years of service at Texas A&M. He was a talented and inventive person. He had a life long love of airplanes and flying. He knew how to fix anything that broke and was consulted for his advice by both friends and family. He loved working with his tools and spent much of his time in his shop working on various things. He loved hunting deer and elk. He loved his family and his dogs.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Donald S. and M. Florence Johnson, by his son David S. Johnson, and by his beloved wife Lola D. Johnson.

He is survived by three daughters, Debra S. and James L. Bundren of College Station, TX, Donna L. Huntsman of Tulsa, OK, Darla J. and John M. Todd of Bryan; one sister, Carolyn Sue Jones of Jessup, MD; two nephews, Alan S. Jones and Keith E. and Nicole Jones of Jessup, MD; eight grandchildren, Jessica M. Bundren of Bryan, TX, Jacqueline G. Bundren, James E. Bundren, William T. Bundren of College Station, TX, Christopher D. Huntsman of Bryan, TX, and David S. Huntsman of Tulsa, OK, Preston W. Todd and Peyton C. Todd of Bryan, TX; two great grandchildren, Dylan B. Berry of Bryan, TX and Adrianna S. Bundren of College Station, TX.

Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice Brazos Valley.

The family wishes to extend thanks to the staff of Hospice and to Chris Huntsman and Ashley Pounds who took great care of him and helped him through these final months of his life.
