August 5, 1923 – January 12, 2008

Edward James Burke, 84, of College Station passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008, at his residence. Graveside services are set for 9 a.m. Monday, January14, 2008, at College Station Cemetery.

Edward was born in St. Louis and was a resident of College Station for one year. Prior to his retirement, he was an electrical engineer. He served in the US Air Force during World War II in the Philippines.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Burke of College Station; sons and daughter-in-law, John and Sandra Burke of Orlando, Fla., and Edward James Brooke of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Luke Ponseti of New Orleans and Anne and Philip Hemmer; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Joyce Burke of New Orleans; and six grandchildren.

Condolences

  1. To express our deep sympathy to you in your loss. We thank you for serving our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II in the Philippines. You were a member of ‘the greatest generation’. May God’s Speed Be With You Mr. Ed. It was our honor to provide the final military rites graveside.
