Florene Pearl Arnce

 March 10, 1929 – December 10, 2019

Florene Pearl Arnce, 90, of Bryan, and formerly of Vanderpool, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. She was born on March 10, 1929 in Vanderpool to her parents, George and Jewel Polvado. Florene had many musical talents and played the piano and sang with her twin sister at many of her father’s traveling church revivals. Together she and her sister, Lorene, were known as the Polvado Twins and had recorded albums and performed live on various radio stations. Florene met the love of her life, James William Arnce, at one of these special revivals and they were married on November 5, 1949 in Stevensville, Arkansas. She was a phenomenal cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. Florene and James traveled and were able to share a once in a life-time visit to the Holy Land. Their faith was a pillar in their life and marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James William Arnce; daughters, Glenda Arnce Slaughter and Judy Arnce Skrabanek; and her sister, Lorene Dewees.

Florene is survived by her daughter, Kathy Johnson and her husband, Craig; grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Jennifer Skrabanek, Meghann Skrabanek, and Nicholas Swift; great-grandchildren, Hayden Skrabanek, Aubrey Skrabanek, and Landon Skrabanek; son-in-law, Thomas Slaughter; and a host of loving extended family members and friends.

The Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, December 15th, in Vanderpool Cemetery, Vanderpool, TX with Rev. Jim Boyd officiating. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, Bryan, TX.

The family would like to thank the loving care that The Isle at Watercrest and St. Joseph Manor of Bryan provided our family and our loved ones over the last 11 months.
