December 17, 1934 – September 3, 2019

Garland Elaine Williams, 84, of College Station, Texas passed away September 3, 2019. Visitation will be held from 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 11th at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:30 p.m with Dawn Lee Wakefield as the Certified Life Celebrant.

Garland was born on December 17, 1934 to Don and Emma Kennedy in Houston, Texas. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1952 and married the love of her life, Alvin Williams. She immediately found herself on the move, as Alvin was in the military, and she never really stopped until settling in College Station in 1973. Although she stopped moving, her love for travel and her quest to see and learn new things kept her traveling all over the world and she loved every minute of it.

Garland leaves behind sons and daughters-in-law, Don Williams and wife, Lori, Doug Williams and wife, Diane; 4 grandchildren, Mathew, Chris, Katy, and Kelly; and 2 great-grandchildren, Braden and John Michael.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Williams; her son, David Williams; her sister Doris Neibel, and her parents, Don and Emma Kennedy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to an Alzheimer’s or Dementia Research Foundation of your choice.

Condolences for the family of “Garland Elaine Williams”

Condolence from Joyce Fleetwood on September 10th, 2019 12:26 pm

I had the privilege of working with Garland many, many years ago at Texas Real Estate Research Center on the Texas A&M campus. She was one of the sweetest, funniest and most helpful ladies I’ve ever met. Unfortunately, I was also there on the worst day of her life – when she had lost David in a motorcycle accident. She was devastated, but she was able to pick herself up and keep going for the sake of her family. She was a dear friend, and I thought of her often through the years. My deepest sympathy to her precious family. God bless you all!

When hearing Garland name, I always break into a smile. She always has been a favorite of mine. Beautiful, sweet, funny, gracious, and very real. I’ve known her my whole life. The world has lost a very bright light!
