Gloria was born in Galveston, TX to Jens Christian Williamson, Sr. and Anna Margaret Wenzel Williamson on December 9, 1930. Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2018 at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center in Bryan. The Rosary will be recited at 4:30pm. Her life will be celebrated with a graveside ceremony at 2 p.m. Monday November 19 at the College Station City Cemetery.
She attended Dominican High School and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married Billy Ervin Conrad in Galveston on December 6, 1952. They had four sons, William Gerard “Gerry”, Wayne Alan, Kenneth Lee, and Glen Thomas.
Gloria attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in College Station where she loved to visit with the “young people” and donate school supplies. Gloria was also a member of the Snook Extension Club and the Texas Ramblers Genealogical Society.
Gloria is preceded in death by her husband Billy, her oldest son Gerry, her parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
She will be missed by her family: Wayne and Deborah Conrad of Austin, TX and three grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law, and one great grandchild. Kenneth and Martha Conrad of Snook, TX and nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Glen and Kelly Conrad of Bryan, TX and four grandchildren. Gloria is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Memorials may be made to the Dr. Billy and Mrs. Gloria Conrad Endowed Scholarship at the Texas A&M Foundation or to The American Cancer Society of Brazos County.
Gloria was a very loving person and a dedicated member of the Church. I cannot make it to her funeral services, but I will offer my Mass intention for the eternal repose of her beautiful soul on Nov. 19 in San Angelo.
She was such a firecracker at Carriage Inn and we were blessed to know her! Prayers to you guys! May she Rest In Peace!
She loved her beloved Aggies until the end. She will be missed by so many, including those Aggies she supported at St. Mary’s and across the Brazos Valley. My prayers and condolences to the whole Conrad family.
Gloria was a kind and gentle soul. I drove the bus at the Carriage Inn and she never missed an outing or a trip to Walmart. We spent many hours talking about her love for her family and God. She always cared for others before herself. I have good, sweet memories and will miss her. Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary. And they shall walk and not faint.”
A great lady who was all about family
She was always there with a kind word and especially loved all her grandchildren. She was a constant source of inspiration and attended countless events and games. She will be sorely missed by many.
To Kenneth Conrad and all of his family members I send my most sincere Condolences for the loss of your mother. I can remember back when we were young and playing football in your yard and she would come tell you boys not to play so rough with us girls. She was always sweet to me. Keeping y’all in my prayers.
I don’t think words can truly grasp the level of gratefulness I am and was for Gloria. She stood up for me at my confirmation at St. Mary’s and weekly gave me a guiding light during my years at TAMU while in undergrad. I won’t lie; I was hesitant to join church groups of any kind because of the longer time commitments I thought I would have to partake in. I was untrusting of many of my peers, frequently not fully understanding that they too were going through the same college struggles that I was going through. I was lonely, frequently afraid, and in need of guidance from some people who had been there. People who could tell me it was normal to feel the way I did, especially during a time when I wasn’t sure if I was making correct decisions for my life. Rosary club became a weekly safe place where at least I could do one right thing that week. I could make a rosary. Gloria and Ann were there and turned out to be the models I needed to stay true to path. Gloria was a positive and frequently hilarious mentor to me. I don’t regret one single moment I was with that group making rosaries and I have yet to find another group that has made the impact. If I could say anything else to Gloria, I would say thank you for your time. Thank you for your kind and supportive stories. Thank you for helping me stay on God’s path while in college. I really will miss you and miss the Rosary group dearly.
Gloria Conrad was one of the true unsung heroines of St, Mary’s. Her smile could light up a room and she always put others before her.
She made everyone feel welcome and part of the Aggie Catholic family from the minute you said “Howdy!”
Can just see her breaking in the rest of the angels in heaven on how Aggies really welcome people home!
