Gloria Jean McClain

Gloria McClain, 79, of Bryan, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Graveside service is scheduled for 10am, Thursday, October 30, at Bryan City Cemetery, 1111 South Texas Ave.

Gloria was born to Kenneth and Eva Mae (Athey) Moore in Park Falls, Wisconsin. She married Eliott L. Williams (St. Charles, Illinois) in 1953 and spent 18 years as a military wife. Their travels included Florida, California, Mississippi, Arizona, Alaska, and Missouri until Eliott’s retirement as a Tech Sergeant whereby they settled in their home state of Illinois.

In 1980 she married Charles “Butch” McClain, and they resided in St. Charles, Illinois for 14 years. In 1994 Butch passed away, and seven years later she moved to Texas to live with her daughter Karen.
While residing in Illinois, she worked at Howell, Co., in the upholstery area, and then as a secretary for Complete Vending until her retirement.
Gloria’s hobbies included bingo, reading, crossword puzzles, and bowling where she was elected as secretary for many leagues. She was also always involved in the formation of activities for other military families. She will always be remembered for her vivacious personality and winning smile. Her laughter could light up a room.
