Col. Harold B. Owens, USAF Retired
October 1, 1926 – April 26, 2015

Colonel Harold B. Owens (Tex), U.S.A.F. Retired, passed away peacefully at home 26 April. A resident of Bryan for over 35 years, he was a Veteran (enlisted 1944) of WW2 (ETO), the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Aviation Cadets Class 49-B made him a pilot and an officer. He courted and married Captain Hazel Allison, a Combat and Flight Nurse, in 1955. They had flown wounded Marines off the frozen ice at Chosin Reservoir under fire together in C-47s, and stayed married until her death in 2010. They are survived by two sons, Robert and Michael; and five grandsons; a third son, Pat, died in 1974. He was a faculty member at Texas A&M for many years and co owned a local Engineering firm. He was a member of the S.C.V., Lions Club, National Railroad Historic Society, and numerous other groups. He was a good man and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Wake is 7 pm Saturday, May 23, LaSalle Hotel, Bryan. Services are at 2pm, Sunday, May 24 at A&M United Methodist Church. Internment will in Ft. Sam Houston Cemetery, San Antonio, at 2 pm Tuesday, May 26th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Embry Riddle Aviation University to the Patrick Owens Scholarship Fund or a donation to a local charity. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

To the family of Harold B. (Tex) Owens:
I worked at FTD/NASIC during the time when Tex was there. Through many meetings and discussions, I came to know him as a true Patriot, a solid citizen, and a friend. I share your sorrow, and wish you well as you mourn for his passing.
May his soul rest in the Peace of Christ.
