Helen Bland

Helen “Toni” Bland began her circle of life on November 1, 1952 and completed her journey January 22, 2008. Memorial services are yet to be determined and will be published at a later date.
She was born in El Paso, Texas, and grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico where she met her first husband Walt L. Steinke. After marriage they moved to Talladega, Alabama, and raised three children. She was very active in girl scouts and loved camping. After the passing of her first husband, Walt, Toni met and married James S. Bland. She moved to Bryan, Texas, where she worked for Texas A-M until she retired.
Toni is survived by her husband of 18 years, James S. Bland of Bryan, Texas; her children John W. Allen and wife Tami, Heather Klinner and husband Heath, and Laura Steinke and husband David Price; five grandchildren, three sisters, a brother, and several nieces and nephews.

  7. It was a shock for me that Toni died. I had seen her recently at a concert of the ASO. She looked bad and she said that she was getting old. I knew the Blands through Alice Pigman.
    It is very sad. I wonder what illness brought this on.
