In Memorial

James Riley Hinson
March 11, 1941 – April 27, 2017

James Riley Hinson, 76, of Flynn, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017, in his home. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 am, Friday, May 5, 2017, at Ephesus Baptist Church in Jewett. The ladies of Ephesus Baptist Church and Vanetia Baptist Church will provide the meal following the service. Pastor Ray Payne will officiate. Cremation Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers Bryan-College Station.

James Riley Hinson was born in Leggett, Texas to James Luther and Bula Mae Vann Hinson on March 11, 1941. He spent his childhood in Trinity, Texas. In the mid 80’s, he and his wife, Marie, made their home in Flynn, Texas. James adored his wife, Marie, and never fully recovered from her death in December 2015. He never wanted to move on without her, saying that she would always be his bride and he could never replace her. His love for her was an inspiration to all who knew him. James loved his children grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a gifted encourager and never failed to hug and express his love for each of them. Everybody loved James. He always said that he loved to make people laugh. He’d search a room out and find the saddest or crankiest person and was determined to make them smile. James often held conversations with strangers for hours. He loved people. He loved his Lord and Savior, also. He gave his life to Christ on April 30, 2008, and was baptized on May 11, 2008, at 67 years of age with his 8-year-old grandson, Ethan. James’ desire was that all of his family and friends would find the peace in Christ that he had found later in his life.

James in preceded in death by his parents James and Bula Mae and wife of 39 years, Dorothy Marie Hinson.

He is survived by his son Mike Hinson and daughter-in-law Kathy of Riverside, Texas; his daughter Tammy Payne and son-in-law Sam of Flynn, Texas; his son Mark Anthony Parker and daughter-in-law Cindy of Centerville, Texas; his son Joseph Markham and special friend Theresa Woodward of Leander, Texas; his grandchildren Riley, Matt, Samantha, Brittany, Tucker, Bethany, Cheyenne, Blakely, Bailey, Ethan, Rachael, Madison, Kelsey, Garrett, PJ and Shelly; twenty great-grandchildren; and his sisters and brothers, Louise Parker, Frances Thornton, Billy Hinson, Waymon Hinson, and Jerry Hinson.

So sad to lose such a great man. James was the kind of person who was gonna make you laugh even if you didn’t want to. He always had something smarty to say about everything and that’s what made him so special. I don’t think there was 1 person who met him that didn’t like him, he was just that kind of man. He was Mikes dad, but he was also our family. He will be missed dearly.
