James Roy Beasley

James Roy Beasley, 69, of Bryan, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 22.

James Roy Beasley was born to James Odell and Katie Florence Hall Beasley in Commerce, Texas. After high school he enlisted in the Navy and served aboard the USS Ability, an ocean-going mine sweeper. James worked 10 years for a NASA sub- contractor and was part of the team that helped transmit pictures of the first walk on the moon in 1969. In 1976, his last project produced the most recent pictures of Pluto and it is continuing into deep space. James retired from Brown & Root Oilfield Division after 22 years of service working in the Anahuac Yard and off shore in the Gulf of Mexico. James loved fishing, hunting, home vegetable gardening and growing farm raised catfish in local ponds.

James was preceded in death by his parents and Brother Michael Don Beasley.

He is survived by son Dr. James Roy Beasley Jr and wife Lisa of Doylestown, PA.; daughter Suzannah and husband Bradley W. Ayers of Bryan, TX. ; granddaughters Katelyn Beasley, Emily Desormeaux, Sarah Desormeaux, and Alyssa Ayers; his partner-best-friend of nearly 50 years and wife, Carol Sue Willingham of Bryan, TX.; his niece, nephews, multiple cousins and several aunts .

Memorial service and inurnment will be at a future date at the Cumby Cemetery in Cumby, Texas. Cremation services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.
