Janie Orta

Janie Orta, 58, of Bryan, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the College Station Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, at Callaway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m.

Janie was born May 23, 1954, in Bryan, Texas, to Curly and Santos Orta. She is a lifetime resident of this area and worked as a beautician.

Survivors include her husband, Noah Acosta, of Bryan; daughter, Naomi Acosta, of Bryan; mother; Santos Orta, of Bryan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Irma Orta, of Houston, Raymond and Lupe Orta, of Bryan; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Dale Dodson, of Bryan; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

  1. My dear friend, How I remember the good times we had through high school. You were a true friend then and I am sorry we did not keep up with each other as we should have. Your visit to Austin that one time and the picture you gave me has been the best gift you could have given me in our friendship. I will continue to pray for you and your family as they go through this difficult time. I will surely miss you my friend. Love You and Rest in Peace wih our Lord Jesus Christ forever.

  2. We love you Aunt Janie!! Malarie will forever hold the great memories in her heart. The times you took her to the zoo, the resale shops or just to get a bite to eat. She remembers the laughs all to well. We miss you dearly and we still have your cook book 🙂

  3. I met Janie when I was 13 yrs old and she worked at the Shiply’s Donuts on S. College Ave. She has been my friend for 37 yrs. She was the only one who cut my hair and gave me perms. She was always so happy! I will pray for your family through this difficult time. She loved all of you so much and spoke of you every time I saw her.

  4. janie, you were my best friend ever since i was 16 years. you were always good to me!!! you helped me alot, and i will nevee forget you. you are my very best friend!!!! we had so many good times togeather when we worked at shipley togeather, and all the fun times in snook. youre the only person that knew how to cut ny hair right!!!! i love you so much. my condolence are with you and the family. i love all you. god bless you and family.
