Jerry Gibson

A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, it broke hearts for him to go, God takes the very best!

The work of Jerry Gibson was done here on earth; the angels stood near his side, and took him to be with Jesus on,

January 22, 2018.  He was the son of Erwin Gibson and Elsie Carradine.   Jerry was born on March 27, 1933, in Lake Arthur, Louisiana.  He married the love of his life, Lois Marie Kopecky, on September 6, 1953 in Eagle Lake, Texas.

Jerry was very caring and outgoing, always helping others, and loved his family. He enjoyed life and always had a gleaming smile when you saw him.  Throughout the years he was a Rice Buyer, Pilot, Alligator Hunter, a Rancher, and was in Real Estate and Land Management. He was a member of the Aggie Corp of Cadets, and a very proud Army Veteran. The title he loved best was “Grandpa”.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his stepfather, Buck James; and son, Jerry Wayne Gibson.

Jerry is survived by wife of 64 years, Lois Gibson; daughter, Susan Marie Horn; son, Glenn and Lorrelle Gibson; brother, Jim and Traleen Gibson; brother-in-law, Louis “Jr” and Patsy Kopecky; grandchildren; Captain Corey E. Crosser, Curtis Gibson, Kristi and Judd Preas, Suzanne and Dorothy Horn; and great-grandchildren; Hailey Gibson, Laila Arrieta, Isabelle, Kaylie and Levi Preas.
