Joe Bill Matous

Joe Bill Matous, Jr., 41 of Bryan, Texas passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Joe Bill and his wife Jessica were married on March 17, 2006 and have two beautiful daughters who meant the world to him.

Joe Bill was the eldest of 7 children.  Called “Bubba” by his brothers and sisters,  he was always there for any of them when ever they needed him.  He always felt that it was his duty to make sure everyone was taken care of.

Joe Bill enjoyed a variety of things including riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, cooking barbeque on his homemade pit, camping, fishing, hunting, driving a team of mules on trail rides with friends, and most of all spending time with family and friends.  He loved being outdoors and helping others.   If there was a reason to barbeque and have his family and friends gather he would find it.  Joe Bill was able to make two trips to Sturgis, South Dakota on his Harley. He made the last trip in August 2015 with his dad for the Sturgis Rally’s 75th Anniversary.

Joe Bill was also a long time employee and friend of Greg Boyd with Boyd Ready Mix.

Joe Bill is survived by his loving wife Jessica; his two daughters, Jenna and Julia Matous; two stepsons, Shane and Dillon Mikolajczak; father, Joe Bill Matous, Sr. and stepmother Beth; mother, Cheryl Denton and stepfather, Jerry (Otis); grandfather, Billy Murphy (Pops); brother Jack Matous and his wife Allison; sister Jessica McMurray and her husband Bryan; sister Johanna Ferguson and her husband Daryl; sister Janelle Matous; brother Justin Matous and his wife Lyndie; sister Jennifer Matous; sister-in-law, Katie Stewart and brother-in-law Edward (Chooch) Macik; twelve nieces and nephews, Amber, Joey, Jensen, Bryston, Camden, Kovan, Tristan, Jaeden, Jorden, Jaylee, Jackson, and Hunter; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael’s Chapel, 2402 S. College Ave in Bryan, under the direction and care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory.

Sweet Janelle and family,

You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers for a very long time and remain so now more than ever. I send you love and hope that the peace that follows the devastation of loss will find you soon and soothe your hearts with fond memories of love, laughter, and plenty of afternoons spent bbq-ing with Bubba. Until you meet again around that big pit in the sky…
