Kimberly Carr

Posted By Cody Jones On August 23, 2015 @ 9:05 am In Obituary | 14 Comments

Kimberly Ann Carr born December 28, 1960 in Dallas, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 2:30 pm in the Norma Bryan All Faiths Chapel at Arbor Oaks – Crestview in Bryan. Travis Bryan III will officiate.

Kim grew up in Dallas and attended Highland Park schools, graduating from Highland Park High School in 1979 and she received an Associate Degree from Dallas Community College. She moved to Bryan in 1999 to be close to her family, and work for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service. Kim worked at TEEX for 16 years and what she cherished most were the many friendships she made during that time.

Family, friends, travel and nature were what she treasured in life. As a very young child outdoor activities were what she loved most. Catching frogs while ‘gardening’ with her adored grandmother, riding and grooming her horse ’Nubbin’, exploring the woods and spending nights in her tree house all filled her free-roaming spirit. She eventually bought an RV and took it to many state parks to hike the trails. Her favorite area to return to every year was Inks Lake in Texas hill country, especially when the bluebonnets were in bloom.
This brings us to the present and what she cherished was hiking different trails on Big Sur on her visits to Carmel-By-The-Sea, California. On these trips she would also make arrangements to go sailing with a local sailboat guide, Christian. She took many trips with Christian to whale-watch the migrating whales off the California coast. Her final wish is to have her ashes sprinkled into the waters of Monterrey Bay from Christian’s sailboat. Kim’s family will make this final trip with her to the site of natural beauty she so treasured to fulfill her wish.

Kim is survived by her mother, Grace Ann Carr and cousin, Travis Bryan III and his wife, Becky Bryan, and cousin Timothy Norman Bryan, all of Bryan Texas.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to The Aggieland Humane Society.

Condolence from Lynda and Gary Seimes on August 24th, 2015 8:14 pm

We met Kim and her friend Mary on a 2010 cruise to Alaska. She quickly became a friend – we spent a lot of time with both Kim and Mary, enjoying the spectacular scenery and getting to know one another. We were so shocked and saddened to hear of her passing. Our hearts go out to all her family and friends – she was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed. Kim – wherever you are, know that we will remember you always – your ready smile, your contagious laugh, and the look of amazement in your eyes as we sailed up Cook Inlet with the surrounding mountains bathed in alpenglow, and the dozens of whales everywhere we looked. God speed, my friend. Heaven just got itself its best and brightest angel.

This is so unbelievable I don’t even know what to say. My thoughts are with her mom Grace Ann and Mary that they find peace somehow. Gone way too soon.

“Native American Prayer”

I give you this one thought to keep –
I am with you still – I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the sweet uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone –
I am with you still in each new dawn.

Dear Mrs. Carr, Bryan family and beautiful Mary,

As I wrote on Kim’s facebook page, we met while both on business trips to DC a number of years ago. Sitting at the hotel bar, we shared vino, laughs and lots of stories. Instantly we formed a friendship which I will always cherish. Kim’s spirit is alive and well in all of us I believe. She is a beautiful soul that our Lord will love and protect. Xo to you all Chel

I first met Kim in 2001 when we worked on a project for TEEX. Her intelligence, sense of humor, kindness, and respect for everyone’s opinion was refreshing. We became friends, spending Friday evenings “solving the world’s problems while sharing our life experiences.” Those times together ended when I started traveling for TEEX, but I’ve never forgotten them.
Her life was cut short, but she lived it to the fullest and left a big imprint on the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. I am grateful to be one of those.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
