Lawrence Korthals Altes
March 18, 1955 – October 23, 2015

Lawrence “Larry” Korthals Altes, 60, of Fayetteville, passed away early Friday morning at his residence in College Station, TX. Larry spent much of his life in the Syracuse area before moving to Texas in 2012.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother Doris E. Altes.

He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Laura Byrd of College Station, TX; his father, Stephen K. Altes of Charlottesville, VA; siblings Talissa Altes of Charlottesville, VA, and Steve Altes of Valencia, CA; daughter, Jamie and her partner, Skeeter Brewer; granddaughters Renee and Elizabeth; and grandsons Jeremiah and Timmy. He succumbed after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Arrangements are in care of Calloway-Jones Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas and there will be no calling hours. To the family and relatives of Larry, I am sorry for you loss. Larry was a good friend to me as we encountered each other on and off in our lives. People at Wegmans that knew him still ask me about him. he will be missed.
