Lawrence E. Gillespie

Lawrence E. Gillespie
September 16, 1934 – November 3, 2015

Larry was born to Horace and Kathleen McVeigh Gillespie on September 16,1934 in Kansas City, Missouri. He grew up in Tonganoxie, Kansas and he served in the U.S. Navy. Larry met the love of his life, Delores (Cindy) Gregg, and they married in 1954. They raised two sons, Greg and Lane, and they shared sixty-one joyous years of marriage. Larry was a man of faith and a provider for the home he and Cindy created for their family. He retired from Kansas Power and Light Company after thirty-eight years of service. Throughout his life Larry enjoyed anything and everything outdoors with his family and friends – hunting, fishing, camping, or just sitting outside in the sunlight. He was Catholic in faith.

Preceding him in death are his parents and his siblings; two brothers and a sister. His survivors include his wife, Cindy Gillespie; his sons Greg and wife Brenda Gillespie, of Cape Coral, Fl., Lane and his wife Sharon Gillespie of College Station and their Daughter Susan Gonzales.

The family asks those remembering Larry to make donations to the Catholic Church or the Brazos Valley Hospice, to whom they express their gratitude.
