Louis Jean Thompson

Louis Jean Thompson, 88, of College Station, passed away at his home on September 19, 2013. Graveside rites will be held at the College Station Cemetery on September 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

Louis Jean was born April 26, 1925 in Big Spring, Texas to Louis Victor and Stella Thompson. Louis Jean graduated from Big Spring High School May 27, 1942. After high school he attended Texas A&M College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 16, 1943 and was honorably discharged July 1, 1945. Louis married Eva Jane Shepard February 23, 1946. Louis returned to Texas A&M College’s School of Engineering graduating with a Bachelor of Science June 3, 1949, Master of Science August 24, 1951. Louis graduated from the University of Virginia August 13, 1966 earning a Doctor of Science. Since September of 1966 he was member of the faculty of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University retiring January 31, 1991. Louis was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Victor and Stella Thompson; wife, Eva Thompson; daughter, Cynthia Pinion; son, Jonathan Mark Thompson.

Survivors include his sons, Louis Burk Thompson of Vicksburg, Michigan, Craig Kent Thompson of Marietta, Georgia; brother, Kenny Thompson of Big Spring, Texas; six grandsons, two great-grandsons, and two great-granddaughters.

The family of Louis Jean Thompson would like to especially thank Amelia Gonzales, Roylene Arnold, J.B. and Dixie Goolsby, and Hospice Brazos Valley.

  2. We were sorry to learn of Louis’ death. We knew him through our church activities and he taught Dean about beekeeping. He was a fine man, good to be around, good to have as a friend. Our sympathy to the family in their loss.
