Margie McCord

Margie Imogene McCord peacefully passed away on October 31, 2015 in Bryan, Texas at the age of 88 years. A graveside service will be planned at a later date at the Little Rock National Cemetery. Services are in the care of Callaway-Jones Funeral Home and Crematory in Bryan College Station, Texas.

She was born to Monroe and Eliza Knight on June 8, 1927, in Grapevine, Texas and grew up in Winnsboro, Texas.  She attended Draughn Business School in Dallas and worked in the civilian pay office at Love Field during WWII.

In 1946 she married Henry E. McCord of Dallas.  They lived in Galveston, Texas City, and many years in Little Rock, Arkansas after surviving Hurricane Carla. Imogene retired from Little Rock Public Schools as a Library Aide and loved Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, sewing, genealogy, gardening and dogs!

Her husband Henry precedes her in death, along with parents Monroe and Eliza Knight, brothers Clyde and Monroe, sister Dorothy and great-grandson Jackson McCord.

Sisters Ruth Carpenter and Annie Dunn both of Winnsboro survive her; as well as son Steve McCord (Susan) Sherwood, Arkansas; daughter Linda Hawes (Sam) College Station, Texas; and grandchildren Mark and Casey McCord (Erin) and Annie Miller (Joseph); and great-granddaughters Sydney and Anna McCord.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hospice of Brazos Valley for their compassionate care and request in lieu of flowers that memorials are made to http://www.hospicebrazosvalley.org/donate.html
