MARINDA JO LAUB BRUFFETT
April 20, 1938 – November 19, 2007
Marinda Jo Laub Bruffett passed away at her home on November 19, 2007 after a lingering fight with cancer. Services are set for 10am Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the First Baptist Church College Station, Texas. Burial will follow at the College Station City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8pm at the First Baptist Church complex on Friday, November 23rd.
Jo was born on April 20, 1938 to Ernest and Myrtle Laub of Norwood, Missouri who preceded her in death. Jo was converted and baptized in the First Baptist Church of Norwood and a dedicated Christian servant throughout her life. Jo was a member of First Baptist Church College Station at her death.
Jo graduated from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri in 1960 and taught in the public school systems of Missouri, Louisiana and Texas during her career. She retired from the Alvin Independent School District in 1994. Jo took pleasure in quilting, gardening, but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was also an active participant in the Discovery Program at First Baptist Church College Station.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Jim, whom she married on November 7, 1958, three sons: Darryl and wife, Lori of College Station; Dr. Wayne and wife, Shawnee of Little Rock, AR; John and wife, Lynda of Murphy, TX; 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Tyler and Shelby Bruffett of College Station; Phoebe, Olivia, Nolen and Everett Bruffett of Little Rock, AR; Lauryn, Logan and Ben Bruffett of Murphy, Texas; her sister, Marie Sanders of Platte City, MO and Vince Sanders, her nephew of Kansas City, MO.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, staff and nurses of Scott – White of College Station and Temple for care throughout her illness. Thanks also to the staff and members of First Baptist Church College Station and, in particular, the Cornerstone Sunday School Class.
